Poros: A Green Paradise
The first week of summer is reaching almost to its end and the weekend breaks close to Athens are a must.
The first break was in Poros island, in the southern part of the Saronic Gulf. It’s a small island full of pines trees, small beaches and great food. A walk at coastal road will make you admire the Neoclassical buildings, the square of the Monument of Greek revolution, the place where the Great Poet Kostis Palamas and his family vacationed during summers.
And if you turn into the narrow alleys, you will have the feeling that you are lost in a labyrinth. Interesting buildings with small and flowered courtyards will guide you to Poros clock tower, where you will experience a great view over the town.
Don’t miss to visit the old castle where the view is awesome. Don’t forget a wine tasting at a great wine store Porou Ampelos. Exceptional wine tags will keep your interest in this store and you will leave with many bottles of wine to enrich your collection.
